Biography

Katja von Ruville, who grew up in Munich and the Rhineland, studied Art History in Oslo and Communication Design in Mainz. She has been working as a book designer for German publishers for 25 years. In 2003 she moved to Frankfurt and founded grassgrün* in 2006, her label for unique jewelry using resin and found objects. By then, her first light objects emerged, fragile works presented on lightboxes. From 2011 to 2018 she attended Merja Herzog-Hellstén’s sculpture class, partly at the Städelschule Adult Education Program, working with plaster, resin, porcelain and material from nature. Her work is fragile and transluscent.
Since 2018, Katja von Ruville has increasingly devoted herself to painting. In her new studio in Dreieich, she creates works in large scale, with nature continuing to be the main theme.
